Patriots’ Plan To Get Out Of Terrible Stefon Diggs Contract
Patriots' Plan To Get Out Of Terrible Stefon Diggs Contract

Stefon Diggs has embarked on a new chapter in his NFL career with the New England Patriots, securing a substantial three-year, $69 million contract in March 2025. The veteran wide receiver, formerly of the Buffalo Bills, brings his elite playmaking abilities to a Patriots team looking to bolster their offensive arsenal.
While the deal includes $26 million in guaranteed money, the Patriots structured the contract to provide flexibility, with only $1.7 million guaranteed beyond the 2025 season.
The 31-year-old’s agreement also features a $12 million signing bonus, paid in three $4 million installments spread across 2025 and early 2026. Despite the significant financial commitment, the Patriots have built protection into the contract through offset language and physical requirements. This strategic approach to Diggs’ contract reflects the team’s efforts to balance acquiring top-tier talent while maintaining financial flexibility for future seasons.
Diggs flashed a pink substance in party boat video
Patriots wide receiver Stefon Diggs appeared in a viral video that circulated across social media following Memorial Day weekend. The footage shows Diggs on a boat with several women, including what appears to be his girlfriend Cardi B, in the Miami area.
The video has drawn attention primarily because Diggs is seen displaying a small bag containing an unidentified pink substance to three women gathered around him. In the footage, Diggs can be heard telling the women to “take that” but “don’t take all of it” before encouraging them to “have some fun” and “come back.”
Additional clips from the same outing show women dancing on the boat in a provocative manner.
Sports analysts have noted that the Patriots organization is likely aware of the video but has limited options for any potential discipline. Without definitive evidence identifying the pink substance, the team would face significant challenges if they attempted to take action against Diggs based solely on this footage.
Patriots coach Vrabel addresses concerns over Diggs video
Mike Vrabel faced questions Wednesday regarding recently circulated videos of wide receiver Stefon Diggs, and his responses suggested the Patriots organization has some concerns. Vrabel kept his comments measured but direct.
“It’s something that we’re aware of,” Vrabel stated during the media session. He emphasized the team’s expectations about decision-making, noting, “We want to make great decisions on and off the field.”
The coach maintained a professional stance by keeping details of any conversations with Diggs private. “Any discussions between Stefon and myself will remain between him and the club,” Vrabel explained.
Diggs has been notably absent from media-accessible OTA sessions, though he has participated in other team activities. His presence with the Patriots comes with high expectations following his acquisition from Buffalo.
The veteran receiver comes to New England after a brief stint with Houston, where he recorded 47 receptions, 496 yards and 3 touchdowns in just 8 games last season. Despite suffering a torn ACL that sidelined him for half the season, Diggs is expected to be fully recovered and ready for the Patriots’ season opener.
