Patriots Owner Robert Kraft’s Position On Firing Bill Belichick

New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft’s position on firing head coach Bill Belichick appears to be changing.

After a lot of hype and brouhaha in the offseason about how Bill O’Brien was going to come along and fix the offense, the Patriots continue to be awful on that side of the ball.

Mac Jones, specifically, is a huge disaster. If not for his girlfriend’s propensity for provocative outfit choices, he would be officially useless.

New England is currently 1-4 on the year and seems headed towards another failed campaign.

What does that mean for Belichick? Nothing good.

According to Jeff Howe of The Athletic, Kraft’s patience is wearing thin.

“On multiple occasions in recent years, he has lamented the team’s lack of a postseason victory in the post-Brady era,” he wrote.

“Kraft has grown frustrated, if not downright angry, over this shortage of success, according to people close to the situation.”

Belichick’s 263 wins and six Super Bowl championships are beyond reproach. That said, it is hard to ignore that the Patriots currently boast the NFL’s worst offense.

Moreover, a week after suffering a humiliating 38-3 loss to the Dallas Cowboys, New England followed that effort up with a 34-0 blowout loss to the New Orleans Saints.

As things presently stand, the Patriots have currently gone more than 30 drives without an offensive touchdown.

That’s not great. And it could mean the end of Belichick’s time in New England.

“If you think Patriots owner Robert Kraft wouldn’t fire Bill Belichick, you’re wrong,” Howe noted.

New England has games coming up against the Las Vegas Raiders, Buffalo Bills, Miami Dolphins and Washington Commanders. At best, the team will go 2-2. More likely, though – they will lose at least three of those.

Will Kraft and the Patriots ultimately opt to move on from Belichick at the end of this season? Time will tell.
