Charissa Thompson’s Sad Response To Barstool Sports Podcast Interview
Charissa Thompson appeared on a Barstool Sports podcast this past week and generated a ton of bad press in the process.
During an appearance on ‘Pardon My Take’ Thompson made a stunning confession: she used to make up reports during her time as a sideline reporter.
“I’ve said this before. I haven’t been fired for saying it, but I’ll say it again,” the NFL broadcaster said.
“I would make up the report sometimes, because A) the coach wouldn’t come out at halftime, or it was too late and I didn’t want to screw up the report.
“So I was like, ‘I’m just gonna make this up, because first of all, no coach is gonna get mad if I say, ‘Hey, we need to stop hurting ourselves, we need to be better on third down, we need to stop turning the ball over and do a better job of getting off the field.’ They’re not gonna correct me on that. So I’m like, it’s fine, I’ll just make up the report.”
Understandably, many didn’t take kindly to this admission. After more than 48 hours of nonstop backlash, Thompson took to social media to respond.
“Ok, let’s address the elephant in the room,” she wrote on social media.
“I have a responsibility to myself and my employers to clarify what is being reported. I’m sorry. I have never lied about anything or been unethical during my time as a sports broadcaster.
“I have nothing but respect for sideline reporters and the tireless work they put in behind the scenes and on the field. I am also appreciative and humbled to work alongside some of the best in the business and call them some of my best friends.”
It will be interesting to see if that response quells some of the backlash.
Thompson is obviously no stranger to being in the headlines. Between her intimate photos with her new boyfriend, sultry selfies and provocative outfit choices, it is one thing after another with her.

That said – what she faced this week is obviously a whole different breed of trouble.
If anything, it is surprising that it took her this long to respond.
Will Thompson’s apology ultimately make sports fans forgive and forget? Time will tell.
