Bills Owner Kim Pegula Explains Why She’ll Stand For National Anthem

Buffalo Bills owner Kim Pegula recently explained why she will stand for the National Anthem when the NFL season resumes. To her, it boils down to a sense of personal rights.

“I will be standing, but that’s my choice,” she said.

“That’s my right. I would hope that the players as well respect that, just like I’m going to respect them for what they want to do if they so choose to.”

Pegula insists that the American flag holds a special meaning for her.

“So the flag for me is very profound,” she said.

“For me to stand for the flag and for the anthem, for me personally, that is a right that I now so much appreciate.”

When the NFL season begins this year, many players are expected to take a knee during the National Anthem. This comes largely because of the current political climate, but also partly due to NFL commissioner Roger Goodell essentially endorsing the act during his recent comments.

Colin Kaepernick, the former quarterback of the San Francisco 49ers who popularized the act, has not been in the NFL since 2016. As of yet, it does not appear that there will be any opportunity for him to return to the fold.
