Angry Eagles Fans Have Message For Carson Wentz

Carson Wentz entered Sunday night’s game between the Philadelphia Eagles and San Francisco 49ers already on thin ice with his fanbase.

The 27-year-old didn’t do himself any favors early on in the affair.

On the Eagles’ second drive of the game, with 10 minutes remaining in the first quarter, Wentz watched helplessly as one of his passes got tipped and subsequently picked. It marked the seventh time in four outings that he was intercepted.

Needless to say, fans weren’t happy.

The message from the fanbase to their starting quarterback instantly became clear: it’s time for you to take a seat on the bench.

Coming into this game, Wentz was on a historically bad run. His 63.7 passer rating was the worst in the league, his six total picks – at the time – led all quarterbacks, and his 5.6 yards per passing attempt put him at the bottom of the NFL.

So far, with 10 minutes to go in the game against the Niners, he has recorded 140 yards on 15 of 24 passing, 0 touchdowns and 1 pick. His passer rating thus far is 61.1.

Obviously that is not quite what the Eagles were hoping for when they signed him to a contract that will pay him $132 million over the next four seasons – with $108 million guaranteed.

It goes without saying that Philly may still come back and win this game against a hobbled San Francisco group. Wentz might even be decent in the final quarter. But the pattern up to this point in the season as it pertains to Wentz has been troubling, and it really wouldn’t be shocking at all to see him benched sooner rather than later.
