Vikings Respond To Cowboys Trying To Hire Mike Zimmer
The Vikings responded to the Cowboys trying to hire Mike Zimmer this week.
On Friday, reports emerged that Dallas may target Zimmer to take over for Jason Garrett.
Zimmer served as the Cowboys’ defensive coordinator from 2000 to 2006, and was an assistant with the organization prior to that as well.
He is said to have a good relationship with Jerry Jones.

In response to all the talk of the Cowboys poaching their head coach, Vikings owner Mark Wilf released a statement expressing his desire to retain Zimmer.
“We value Mike and Rick’s leadership and we have every intent of Mike continuing as the head coach of the Minnesota Vikings and Rick leading our football operations, next year and beyond,” he said.
Zimmer joined Minnesota in 2014 and has gone 57-38-1 in the six years since. With him at the helm, the Vikings have made the postseason on three separate occasions and won two divisional titles.
Because Zimmer still has a year left on his deal, Jones would have to trade for him.
If the Cowboys ultimately find themselves unable to pursue Zimmer, they are expected to target big name candidates like Urban Meyer and Lincoln Riley.
