Real Reason Tom Brady, Donald Trump Stopped Being Friends
Tom Brady is the greatest NFL player of all time. As a result, the future Hall of Famer has drawn admirers from all over the world and various walks of life.
For a long time, one of his biggest supporters was former U.S. President Donald Trump.
In light of Trump’s general relationship with the NFL, his dynamic with Brady came under particular scrutiny at one point.
Interestingly enough, somewhere along the way their friendship appears to have soured.
In the book “This Will Not Pass: Trump, Biden, and the Battle for America’s Future” by Jonathan Martin and Alexander Burns, the details of what led to their mild falling out were revealed.
“The football star, Trump said, had not been the same after marrying Gisele Bündchen, who insisted on cooking him a painstakingly health-conscious diet,” Martin wrote.
In particular, Trump seemed miffed by some of Brady’s lifestyle choices.
“Trump said their friendship began to sour after Brady married his wife Gisele Bundchen and began following a notoriously strict diet and lifestyle in 2005,” Yahoo Sports reported.
Trump reportedly made these comments in 2020.
Interestingly enough, back in 2004, Trump told Playboy that he believed Brady and his daughter, Ivanka, “would make a great combination.”
During an appearance on the Howard Stern Show back 2020, Brady seemed to admit that his relationship with Trump had become somewhat strained.
“Then the whole political aspect came, and I think I got brought into a lot of those things because it was so polarizing around the election time,” Brady said.
“It was uncomfortable for me, because you can’t — and not that I would undo a friendship — but the political support is so different than support of a friend.”
Trump also seemingly didn’t take kindly to Brady’s indirect mockery of claims that he was the actual winner of the most recent Presidential election.
Brady: Not a lot of people think we could’ve won. In fact, I think about 40% of the people still don’t think we won

“Not a lot of people think we could’ve won,” Brady said. “In fact, I think about 40 percent of the people still don’t think we won.”
For obvious reasons, that did not endear him to Trump.

All in all, it’s easy to see why this relationship ultimately fell apart. It will be interesting to see where it goes from here.
The recently-retired Brady is currently being linked to a possible return with two different NFL teams. Should that happen, and if he ends up winning another Super Bowl in the process – it wouldn’t be all that shocking to see him and Trump ultimately mend fences down the line.
