Marvin Lewis Suggests Cowboys, NFL Are Racist
Marvin Lewis suggested the Cowboys and NFL are racist recently.
While he did not explicitly come out and name names, it was clear based on Lewis’ comments that he was frustrated with some of the coaches that had been hired by NFL teams in recent days.
Earlier this week, the Carolina Panthers hired Baylor’s Matt Rhule, the New York Giants hired New England Patriots special teams coach Joe Judge and Dallas hired former Green Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarthy.
None of those men are black.
The only person of color to have interviewed for the Cowboys job was Lewis – who obviously did not get the gig. It is widely assumed that he was only permitted to interview to satisfy the Rooney Rule, which mandates that teams must interview at least one person of color.
When pressed on this subject during a recent appearance on ESPN’s Golic and Wingo show, Lewis suggested that there are “a lot bigger problems than myself out there” and that the league show “provide more opportunity” for black coaches.
“You keep beating your head up against the wall, but I would say — and again, this is somebody’s business, this is somebody’s franchise, and nobody’s going to tell them who to hire,” Lewis said.
“But if we can just somehow open the process a bit more and provide more opportunity.”
Lewis is one of the most notable black coaches in NFL history. Over the course of a 16-year run with the Cincinnati Bengals he put up a record of 131-122.
There are currently only four minority coaches in the NFL today: Ron Rivera of the Washington Redskins, Mike Tomlin of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Anthony Lynn of the LA Chargers and Brian Flores of the Miami Dolphins.

Pretty soon the NFL teams will be forced to interview Gay people, Girls, and Muslims from North Jersey all to make everyone happy. Stupid Rule!! If your good, your good.
He’ll yea never been said better!!! Your Awesome keep it up !!!!!!!
That’s not a fair statement. So I guess there’s only good black players but not black coaches? Marvin Lewis is correct and its something the league is aware of. Let all the black players either sit out or form their own league and see how great the NFL becomes then.
