Dallas Cowboys Gave Mike McCarthy Odd Contract
The Dallas Cowboys gave Mike McCarthy an odd contract.
On Monday morning, news broke that Jerry Jones had found his man. Less than 24 hours after officially giving Jason Garrett the boot, McCarthy was brought in to serve as his replacement.
The decision to hire McCarthy has been met with a universal shrug. Most people are not overly excited about it, but nobody is condemning it either. Ultimately it was probably the most low-risk move available.
What is interesting, though, is the sort of contract McCarthy opted to accept from Jones.
Mike McCarthy’s contract with the Dallas Cowboys will be for five years, according to a source. Jason Garrett’s last deal was for five years, $30 million. McCarthy was making more than that per year on his final contract with the Green Bay Packers. https://t.co/4bLvXU82nU

According to ESPN, McCarthy’s deal is for five years. While the dollar amount is not yet clear, it is worth remembering that Garrett commanded $6 million per season.
In Green Bay, McCarthy was making more than that.
So will a Super Bowl-winning head coach really accept a similar deal to the one Garrett was getting? It would be a legitimate step down he did.
Final word on precisely how much McCarthy is getting from Jones should come down in the next few days.

the boys should get a new OWNER not just a head coach.Let jerry take his artwork, pound it up his ass and go fishing with Jason for a couple hundred years.
Why even say that we should get a new owner? That makes zero sense..that will not happen..why would JJ sell his team? Or give his team up. He loves the team and he does everything in his power to make it the most recognizable and richest sports franchise. Everything the Cowboys do or have is first class.
