Dak Prescott’s Outrageous Demands For Cowboys Contract
Dak Prescott’s Outrageous Demands For Cowboys Contract
For the second straight year, the Dallas Cowboys have a difficult decision to make regarding quarterback Dak Prescott. Last season, Prescott was franchise tagged and earned $31.4 million guaranteed for his troubles. Should that happen again this year, his guarantee would jump up by 20 percent to $37.7 million.
Dallas has until March 9 to use the franchise tag on Prescott.
Obviously a long-term deal would be in the best interest of all parties involved, but that presumes they can come together on an agreement. Thus far, they have not been able to do so – leading to a lot of bad blood.
Complicating matters further is the fact that Prescott is coming off a brutal injury, and there are no guarantees regarding his recovery.
This week, NFL Network insider Jane Slater appeared on the Dan Patrick Show and shared what Prescott’s current demands are.

“The goal here is still to get him signed to a long-term deal, and why would they continue using these costly tags on him if they didn’t feel he was their franchise guy?” she said.
“By the way, last year’s money was in the ballpark of Russell Wilson/Jared Goff-type money. Now he’s looking to be paid right behind Patrick Mahomes, a guy who’s gone to the Super Bowl two years in a row and Dak hasn’t done that yet. They feel like it’s been a respectable offer.”

Mahomes got a 10-year, $450 million contract extension prior to the start of last season.
Will Dallas eventually cave and give Prescott that sort of contract? At the moment, it doesn’t look like it.
