Cowboys Legend Offers Strong Take On Jason Garrett
Cowboys legend Michael Irvin offered a strong take on Jason Garrett in a recent interview.
Speaking to TMZ, the polarizing wide receiver described being in “mourning” now that his “very good friend” is out of a job.
Despite that, he feels like it might be what is best for the Cowboys overall. He compared Jerry Jones’ decision to give Garrett the boot to when the Golden State Warriors replaced Mark Jackson with Steve Kerr.
“When [head coach] Mark Jackson left the Warriors, everything they needed to win championships was there,” he said.
“And, Steve Kerr came in and put in the right system that fit the talent, gave them the right leeways and brought the best out of everybody and they went on to start winning a lot of championships.
“I’m looking for Mike McCarthy to ‘Kerr’ the situation.”
The comparison makes a lot of sense.
Under McCarthy, the Green Bay Packers went 125-77-2 and won five NFC North titles in six years. That, coupled with his Super Bowl XLV, offered McCarthy about as good a resume as anyone looking for a job this offseason.
