Cowboys Coach Mike McCarthy Makes Surprising Decision
Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy made a surprising decision this week.
For the last few days the number one question facing McCarthy’s new staff has been who would ultimately be calling the offensive plays.
Back when he was with the Green Bay Packers, McCarthy was the one who called the plays. However, in Dallas, offensive coordinator Kellen Moore has traditionally called the plays.
On Thursday, McCarthy revealed that the Cowboys would stick with what was working and allow Moore to continue calling the offensive plays.

Moore was heavily recruited by Washington to be their new offensive coordinator, but he opted to stay in Dallas. This appears to be McCarthy’s way of saying thank you.
That being said, it will be interesting to see how short of a leash Moore is ultimately on. Deep down, you have to figure that McCarthy is intrigued by the options at his disposal given just how much firepower the Cowboys have.
If Dallas gets off to a slow start, don’t be surprised to see Moore’s duties get yanked away quicker than you would expect them to.
