Minnesota Vikings Make Abrupt Coaching Change
The Minnesota Vikings made an abrupt coaching change this week.
Following Kevin Stefanski’s departure to the Cleveland Browns, a vacancy opened up at offensive coordinator.
According to Minnesota’s play-by-play man Paul Allen, Gary Kubiak will be the franchise’s next offensive coordinator.
Kubiak currently serves as an offensive assistant for the Vikings.
There has been chatter over the past week that Mike Zimmer was considering Kubiak for the role, but nothing definitive until just now.

Kubiak served as the coach of the Denver Broncos up until 2016. After stepping down for health issues, he linked up with the Vikings.
Minnesota boasts one of the league’s better offenses, so there is more than enough talent for Kubiak to work with should he want the job.
The Vikings finished 10-6 this past season, good for second-place in the NFC North. They ended up upsetting the New Orleans Saints in the Wild Card game before ultimately falling to the San Francisco 49ers.
Stefanksi left for the Browns on Jan. 13, so Minnesota likely wants to fill the position left behind by him sooner rather than later.
