Jordan Love Booed at World Cup Match in Los Angeles

Jordan Love went to the World Cup on Friday. Los Angeles booed him for it.

The Green Bay Packers quarterback was in the stands at SoFi Stadium for the Spain-Belgium match. When his face flashed on the big screen during a break in play, the crowd let him have it. The boos were loud enough to be picked up on the Fox broadcast.

“The boos you’re hearing in the background are because Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love was just shown on the screen,” the announcer explained.

Love laughed about it in the moment. It is not that deep. He was just there to enjoy a soccer game.

But it is also kind of hilarious that he got booed in Los Angeles. Love does not have a lot of history with the Rams or Chargers. He did make a memorably bad play against the Rams two years ago that ended up being clipped and shared for weeks. Maybe that got some Rams fans to remember it. But most of the crowd probably had no idea who he was.

That is the Packers effect. Green Bay is one of the most recognizable franchises in professional sports. The green and gold generates emotional responses everywhere it goes. Aaron Rodgers used to talk about being either loved or hated in every city. Love apparently gets the same treatment now.

The larger context is that the Packers are a top-5 team in the NFC and Love is a top-10 quarterback. Los Angeles fans do not have a specific reason to dislike him. He is just a quarterback for a rival team good enough to threaten a Rams playoff run.

The Rams-Packers rivalry is not really a rivalry in the classic sense. They meet occasionally in the postseason and split even. But NFL fans travel and NFL fans have opinions and any time a starter for another franchise is on the JumboTron in an opposing city, there is going to be some noise.

Love had a strong 2025. He threw for 3,381 yards with 23 touchdowns and 6 interceptions. Those are not superstar numbers, but they are solid, and the Packers won 12 games with a young roster around him. Green Bay is set up to take another step in 2026.

The boos are actually a compliment. Nobody boos a bad quarterback who nobody is worried about. They boo a good quarterback because they know he could ruin their team’s season.

Jordan Love probably found the whole thing more amusing than anything else. That is the vibe he gave off on camera. Enjoy the World Cup, Jordan. Then get ready to make LA fans really mad this season.
