Jadeveon Clowney Being Suspended For Packers-Seahawks?
Is Jadeveon Clowney being suspended for Packers-Seahawks?
Clowney landed a very controversial hit during last weekend’s Wild Card showdown between Seattle and the Philadelphia Eagles.
The brutal helmet-to-helmet shot knocked quarterback Carson Wentz out of the game for good, forcing Philly to play backup Josh McCown the rest of the way.
While Clowney did not get punished for the hit during the outing, that could soon change.
According to a report from Tom Pelissero of NFL.com, the league is now in the process of reviewing what transpired.

If the NFL deems that a violation of some sort occurred, punishment could follow shortly thereafter.
The natural follow up that fans had to this report was wondering what the implications were for this weekend’s match-up between Green Bay and Seattle.
Should the league determine that the hit was a dirty one, would Clowney be suspended?
According to Pelissero, the answer is likely no. If the NFL finds that a violation did in fact occur, the likeliest punishment appears to be a fine of some sort.
During an interview with Rich Eisen this past week, former NFL VP of officiating Mike Pereira suggested that Clowney’s hit was definitely a dirty one.
“Slow motion replay didn’t make it look that bad, but in real time, you could see him drop the head and take the shot,” he said.
“I think it’s a foul. Now, certainly, it’s not going to keep Wentz in the game, just because it was a foul and if a foul got called, but I do think that it was a cheap shot.”
This is not the first time Clowney is dealing with something like this. Back in 2018, as a member of the Houston Texans, he earned himself a $40,000 fine for a hit delivered on then-Eagles quarterback Nick Foles.
Clowney, for his part, has maintained his innocence.
“I didn’t see anything. I was just playing fast and he turned like he was running the ball, so I was trying to get him down,” he said.
“It was a bang-bang play. I don’t intend to hurt anybody in this league, let me just put that out there. I’ve been down the injury road; it’s not fun. My intention was not to hurt him. I was just playing fast.”
Fortunately for Clowney and the Seahawks, all indications are that he will be permitted to play this Sunday.
