Jacksonville Jaguars Abruptly Get Rid Of Coach
The Jacksonville Jaguars abruptly got rid of a coach this week.
On Monday morning, the team announced that it had mutually parted ways with offensive coordinator John DeFilippo.
DeFilippo was hired by the organization in 2019 and served just one year with the team.
Originally, DeFilippo was brought in with the hopes that he could serve as a long-term replacement for former offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett.
Obviously that did not end up happening.
This past season, Jacksonville ranked 26th in the league in points with 300 total and 20th in total yards with an average of 342 per outing.
Furthermore, the team was also in the bottom third of the league when it comes to points scored and first downs.
That is to say nothing of the worsening as it pertained to third down conversion rate.
A surprise in Jacksonville: The #Jaguars are moving on from offensive coordinator John DeFilippo, sources tell me and @TomPelissero. After a season that saw him help develop rookie Gardner Minshew, DeFilippo is out and Jax will hire a new OC.

Prior to joining the Jaguars DeFilippo worked as an offensive coordinator for the Minnesota Vikings. He was ultimately let go.
Before that, he worked as a quarterbacks coach from 2016 to 2017 with the Philadelphia Eagles.
It is unclear who head coach Doug Marrone is eying as a potential replacement.
Last year, the Jaguars finished 6-10 which left them dead last in the AFC South.
