Deshaun Watson Responds To Texans Trading DeAndre Hopkins
Deshaun Watson responded to the Houston Texans trading DeAndre Hopkins for peanuts on Monday afternoon.
On the first day of the NFL’s legal tampering period, Houston sent shockwaves through the league by trading away Hopkins and a fourth round selection to the Arizona Cardinals for running back David Johnson, a 2020 second round selection and a 2021 fourth round selection.
The Texans’ move was almost universally panned. They gave away one of the best receivers in the NFL for essentially nothing, and everyone saw the deal as such.
Watson initially did not publicly respond to the move. However, he finally ended up breaking his silence in order to pay respect to Hopkins’ tremendous tenure with Houston.
Man this is crazy! Not sure how you thank someone who has done so much for you and your career. Not only someone who was a leader but one of the best to ever do it. Even more I appreciate your genuine friendship from Day 1. Wishing you everything you deserve Fam! @DeAndreHopkins

“Man this is crazy,” he tweeted out. “Not sure how you thank someone who has done so much for you and your career. Not only someone who was a leader but one of the best to ever do it. Even more I appreciate your genuine friendship from Day 1. Wishing you everything you deserve Fam! @DeAndreHopkins”
Although getting Johnson is obviously better than getting nothing at all for Hopkins, it will still not be the same for the Texans’ offense.
Last year, the star receiver recorded 1,165 yards and sevens scores on 104 receptions.
How exactly does Houston plan to replace that production? Time will tell.
