Colin Cowherd Has Brutal Patriots Prediction For 2020
Colin Cowherd offered a brutal New England Patriots prediction for 2020. Despite being the organization’s biggest fan over the past few years, the Fox Sports radio host believes bad times are ahead.
During his show on Tuesday, Cowherd suggested that New England would not win more than six or seven games next season.
“Fox Bet has their over/under at nine,” he said.
“I think that’s an outrageously high number. “I think it’s a six-win football team.

In Cowherd’s estimation, the Patriots simply have too many weaknesses going into 2020.
“This is not a nine-win team,” he continued. “To me, New England’s a six, seven-win team, tops.”
To be fair, Cowherd’s position is consistent with where he was a month ago. He is not high on the set of players that the Patriots will be trotting out, and he believes that just a select few injuries could devastate things even further.
“They are an injury or two away from being a bottom-five roster in the NFL,” he argued last month. “This is not a good football team.”
The Fox Sports radio host also firmly believes that the expectations for new Patriots quarterback Cam Newton need to be re-assessed.
“It’s time to reboot our expectations for Cam Newton,” he argued.
“This is not a good football team. They have no dynamic playmakers. They don’t have a tight end of note…If Cam can throw for a couple of thousand yards, stays healthy, focused, there you go.”

Colin Cowherd Might Be Right About The Patriots
Cowherd is known for making bombastic statements, but it is hard to really argue with his assessment of New England’s roster. It is definitely lacking.
Losing Tom Brady to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers is obviously bad, but it could be overcome. Particularly given the blatant age-related decline the six-time Super Bowl champ was on last year. However, the Patriots will also be without a lot of other notable names including Dont’a Hightower, Patrick Chung, Marcus Cannon, Brandon Bolden, Danny Vitale, Najee Toran, Marqise Lee, and Matt LaCosse.
That is a lot of holes to fill.
Meanwhile, the AFC East just keeps getting better.
The Buffalo Bills have been nipping at New England’s heels for a while now, and this year Josh Allen will finally actually have someone to throw to in Stefon Diggs.
Allen is already chomping at the prospect after just a few training camp sessions with his new wide receiver.
“He’s a guy that can adjust and do some freakish things on the football field,” he said this week.
“I think what a key part of having a good quarterback-receiver relationship is the communication between the two. We’ll start sitting down and kind of going over things that we see, that I see.
“He’s gonna be able to relay that back to me and try to get on the same page that way. But I think right now the things that he’s able to do – I mean, I’m reading him extremely well. He’s made some crazy plays already and I can’t wait to be on the field with him.”
The Bills finished with 10 wins to New England’s 12 last year on the strength of a really good defense. If the offense can carry some of the load in 2020 – watch out.
The New York Jets theoretically should be better next season as well. Sam Darnold getting mono early on threw the entire year off balance for Adam Gase and Co. So long as he stays healthy, there should be some level of improvement.
And of course the Miami Dolphins are fresh off selecting their new quarterback of the future in Tua Tagovailoa. Although they will obviously not be in contention for the AFC East crown, games against them should be a little tougher this season than they were last.
All in all, it remains to be seen if Cowherd’s prediction about the Patriots will come to fruition. But on paper, at least, it makes sense.
This could prove to be a year to forget for Patriots Nation.
