Cleveland Browns Make Big Coaching Announcement

The Cleveland Browns made a big coaching announcement on Friday morning.

Their search to fill the vacancy left behind by Freddie Kitchens was coming to an end.

New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels would be the final person to interview.

One day earlier, Minnesota Vikings offensive coordinator Kevin Stefanski also interviewed for the job.

All in all, Stefanski and McDaniels are considered the two overwhelming favorites to replace Kitchens.

As of Friday, Cleveland remains the only NFL team without a head coach.

The Washington Redskins, Dallas Cowboys, Carolina Panthers, New York Giants all swiftly made their hires earlier this week.

A final decision on who the Browns’ next coach will be should come at some point in the next couple of days.

Cleveland came into the 2019-20 season with a lot of expectations and hype. Some considered the team a dark horse contender for the postseason.

Unfortunately, the wheels quickly came off as Odell Beckham Jr. and Baker Mayfield could not quite deliver on the field together.

Mayfield’s regression and the Browns’ overall lack of success resulted in Kitchens losing his job.

Among many NFL execs McDaniels is viewed as the frontrunner to be Kitchens’ successor, but that is obviously pending the results of his interview.

McDaniels previously served as a head coach for the Denver Broncos from 2009-2010. That relationship soured quickly after he went 11-17 and he was promptly relieved of his duties.
