Chiefs vs Bears Winner Is Obvious, Says ESPN
The Chiefs vs Bears winner is obvious, says ESPN.
According to a computer model created by the worldwide leader in sports, the Chiefs have a 71.7 percent chance of emerging from this one victorious.
Coming into Sunday Night Football, Kansas City and Chicago appear to be heading in two completely different directions.
The Chiefs sit at 10-4 on the year and have already clinched the AFC West title. At this point they have their sights set on a first-round bye for the postseason.
Meanwhile, the 7-7 Bears are officially out of playoff contention but are still shooting for a winning record on the year. That is an achievable goal should they beat Kansas City this week and defeat the Minnesota Vikings on the road next week.
Interestingly enough, following Chicago’s loss to the Green Bay Packers last week there was talk of NBC possibly flexing this game out of its prime time slot.
Ultimately the network opted not to do that, presumably realizing that watching Patrick Mahomes play is always a treat no matter the competition.
While Lamar Jackson has obviously stolen some of Mahomes’ buzz this year, the Chiefs quarterback is still having a phenomenal year.
On the season, Mahomes has recorded 3,606 passing yards on a competition percentage of 65.7 and passing rating of 106.2. He ranks in the top 10 in all those categories – despite missing two and a half games as a result of a dislocated knee cap.
Mahomes ranks as one of only four quarterbacks in the NFL to average more than 300 passing yards per game this season.
Conversely, it has been a year to forget for Mitchell Trubisky. After starting out the year as a dark horse MVP candidate, there was a point in the season where many thought he would get benched.
In fact, the only reason Trubisky did not get benched is because Chicago literally had no other competent quarterbacks on the roster.
Fortunately, Trubisky has noticeably improved as the season progressed.
Over the last six games, the Bears quarterback has recorded 1,557 yards and 12 touchdowns on 63 percent passing. On top of that, he has also added 126 rushing yards and two scores on the ground.
Will Trubisky be able to continue building on that momentum? We’ll find out once and for all on Sunday night.
