Bryce Young didn’t know where to line up during the Carolina Panthers’ loss to the New Orleans Saints on Monday night.
Heading into his second week as an NFL starting quarterback, Young knew the eyes of the world would be on him.
Monday Night Football is one of the biggest stages in the sport, after all.
So how did the former Alabama star do? Not great. He finished with 153 yards and one touchdown in the 20-17 loss, but that wasn’t the worst of it.
The worst part came with a little over six minutes remaining in the outing.
Young and the Panthers were facing 3rd-and-3 at the Saints’ 13-yard line. They needed a score. Unfortunately, Young wound up almost committing arguably the worst blunder of the season so far.

NFL fans are a vocal bunch, and they don’t have much in the way of sympathy for top overall picks.
Folks flocked to social media immediately to react.

Nice kid but trade him for a 2 or 3 and get Williams

Doesn’t help that he’s constantly running for his life behind that offensive line

The gap between college and NFL is so ridiuclous. They look like boys against men once they get out there.

In a weekend of football that saw Zach Wilson’s mom cause a stir and Baker Mayfield’s wife blow up online over her wild outfit, Young’s unfortunate sequence in the Saints game somehow stands above all other viral incidents.
Two games into the year, Carolina’s season is already over.
Big weekend for the Denver Broncos. https://t.co/IvndtYJmqz

It is clear now that this is going to be even more of a rebuilding campaign than everyone imagined.
Will Young be able to restore the Panthers to some semblance of respectability as the 2023-24 NFL season progresses? Time will tell.
