Andy Reid Plays Dumb on Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift Wedding Question. Then Hints He’ll Be There

Andy Reid got the wedding question and immediately tried to dodge it. Asked Thursday at Chiefs minicamp whether he’d be attending the upcoming Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift wedding, Reid started laughing and said, “Can’t talk about it, can’t talk about it.” That’s how you know he’s already RSVP’d yes.

Then he had to keep talking, because that’s what coaches do, and out came the actual gold. Reid mentioned that Kelce has been “very excited” and that his star tight end has shown “no distractions” from the wedding all offseason. The Kansas City head coach also volunteered that “If it’s like when I got married, my wife did everything. I just kind of followed her lead on it and showed up.”

If you’re trying to read between the lines, the lines are pretty straight here.

The Stephen A. Confession

Reid went on Stephen A. Smith’s show this week and basically admitted he’s going. “I’ve cut back on the cheeseburgers a bit now that I’m older, I can get into the tuxedo, so there is a chance I’ll be there, for sure,” he said. Coaches don’t talk about fitting into tuxedos for weddings they aren’t attending.

He also acknowledged the personal connection. “She’s a Pennsylvania girl, so I got to know her before Trav did, and I’m happy for them that they’re in love. That, to me, is the most important thing.” That’s Andy Reid all but officially announcing he’ll be at the most-watched wedding of the year.

Kelce Is Locked In on the Football Side

The wedding is the celebrity story. The football story is just as interesting. Reid praised Kelce for showing up for most of the offseason and putting in real work at mandatory minicamp. The 36-year-old tight end isn’t acting like a guy planning a billion-dollar wedding. He’s acting like a guy who wants one more Super Bowl run before he hangs them up.

That matters for the Chiefs. Kansas City has questions on offense beyond Mahomes’ health, and Kelce’s role in 2026 is one of them. If he’s still got it physically, the Chiefs are still the AFC’s most dangerous offense. If he doesn’t, this becomes a different conversation.

Why This Story Won’t Stop

This wedding is going to dominate sports headlines from now until kickoff. The crossover audience is too big to ignore. Swift is the biggest pop star on the planet. Kelce is a future Hall of Famer engaged to her. And Reid is the coach of the team that helped make them a global brand in the first place.

Reid trying to deflect is the smart play. The second he says yes or no, every entertainment outlet on Earth makes him a headline. Better to laugh, dodge, and let the Chiefs focus on football until the ceremony actually happens.

The Verdict

Andy Reid is going to the wedding. The tuxedo line gave it away. He’s earned an invite based on years of being one of Kelce’s biggest advocates and a deep family connection to both bride and groom. The only question is whether his speech beats Patrick Mahomes’ speech, because both of those guys will be on the guest list and both of them love a microphone.
