Alvin Kamara Faked an Injury at a Savannah Bananas Game and Saints Fans Were Not Amused

New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara decided to have some fun at his fans’ expense this weekend. The veteran back made a surprise appearance at a Savannah Bananas game on Saturday at Neyland Stadium in Knoxville, and he immediately gave Saints fans a heart attack.
Kamara walked onto the field in full uniform, started bouncing around, and then suddenly grabbed the back of his leg like he had blown out a hamstring. For about three seconds, every Saints supporter watching froze. Then Kamara broke into a dance.
It was a bit. The whole thing was a setup, and the crowd ate it up once they realized the 30-year-old running back was healthy. The Bananas account posted the clip on social media and the views took off immediately.
Funny prank, but the joke was not entirely outside the realm of possibility. Sean Casey actually tore his hamstring playing in a Bananas game a couple years back, so the idea of a current pro getting hurt at one of these exhibition games is not far-fetched at all. That made the bit hit a little harder for Saints fans.
Kamara is coming off the worst season of his career. He rushed for just 471 yards in 2025 thanks to a combination of injuries and a reduced workload as the Saints leaned more on the passing game. He turned 30 last summer, which is the danger zone for any running back, and his contract situation has been a topic of conversation in New Orleans for months.
Saints head coach Kellen Moore has been vague about Kamara’s role moving forward, and there are real questions about whether he is even still in the team’s long-term plans. A legitimate injury at a stunt event would have been an absolute disaster for both sides.
That said, Kamara has earned the right to have a little fun. He is the all-time franchise leader in rushing touchdowns and one of the most beloved players in Saints history. He has built up enough goodwill to pull off a stunt like this without anyone getting too upset, even if their blood pressure spiked for a moment.
The Bananas have become a cultural force in their own right. They are part baseball team, part traveling circus, and they have become a magnet for star athletes from other sports who want some screen time during the offseason. Kamara fits right in. He has the personality for it, and his Tennessee ties made the Knoxville stop a natural fit.
For Saints fans, the takeaway is simple. Kamara still has the burst, still has the showmanship, and apparently still has the sense of humor. Whether he still has a long-term spot in New Orleans remains an open question, but for one Saturday night, he reminded everyone why he became a star in the first place.
Just maybe leave the fake injuries to the Bananas next time. Saints fans have been through enough.
