49ers Coach Offers Surprising Bill Belichick Story
49ers coach Kyle Shanahan offered a surprising Bill Belichick story on Tuesday.
Ahead of the Super Bowl LIV showdown between San Francisco and the Kansas City Chiefs, Shanahan opened up about a side of Belichick most do not get to see.
Shanahan’s last experience in the Super Bowl was not an especially positive one.
It came in 2017 at Super Bowl LI, when his Atlanta Falcons famously blew a 28-3 lead against Belichick’s New England Patriots.
Tom Brady scored 31 unanswered points against Shanahan’s Falcons and ended up winning the outing 34-28.
Belichick was all class after the fact, as Shanahan explained during a session with reporters this week.

“It was really cool that he reached out to me after the Super Bowl just to talk,” Shanahan said.
“I was able to spend some time with him at the [2017] NFL combine, which I was very appreciative of.
“Any time that guy talks, everyone in the world listens. That was especially true for someone like me who aspired to be a head coach. He has been great.
“It’s not like we talk a ton or anything, but he’s a humble guy who likes to help people.”
Shanahan will look to erase the memories of past Super Bowl failures this coming Sunday against the Chiefs.
Will he be able to do it? Time will tell.
