Sadio Mane Asks For Special Favor After Liverpool Game
Sadio Mane asked for a special favor after this weekend’s Liverpool game.
Following Saturday’s 2-0 outing, Mane approached Watford captain Troy Deeney and asked him to take care of Ismaila Sarr.
Sarr, his Senegal International teammate, missed a kick in the final moments of the first half.
The miss came on the heels of Mo Salah giving Liverpool the lead.
Salah would go on to earn his second score of the game in the 90th minute after Divock Origi miscued a shot.
Sarr arrived to Watford from Rennes for a record-setting $40 million.
After Liverpool’s victory, Mane and Sarr could be seen speaking in French in the Anfield tunnel.
When Mane notices Deeney in the proximity, he could be heard shouting to him: “Take care of my boy, yeah?”
Mane then added: “He’s a shy boy, shy boy.”
Deeney acknowledged Mane’s sentiments.
“He just needs to speak English, he’s working on it,” he replied.
“He’s a good boy.”
Mane nodded.
“See you later, take care,” he said.
In a recent interview, Mane acknowledged that he saw himself as something of a protector for Sarr.
“I feel I need to protect him at the beginning because even though he is a really good player it is not easy in the Premier League, because I had that sort of problem,” he said.
“If there are problems to start off with then people need to take care of him, go easy on him and especially the fans need to support him and give him confidence for a great future.”
Mane has taken a similar mentorship role for other youngsters, ensuring that the next generation of talented youngsters has one of the sport’s biggest stars looking out for them.
