Messages Reveal Why Fan Attacked Seth Rollins (Video)
The WWE-watching community was left stunned this past week when a seemingly crazed fan attacked Seth Rollins during a Monday Night Raw filming at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
Rollins had just wrapped a sequence where he defeated Finn Balor and was exiting the ring. As he was heading back up the ramp, the fan jumped a barricade and speared Rollins to the ground.
Security immediately came rushing over and dragged that fan out.
Video from the encounter speaks for itself:
Barely pay much attention to Raw these days but tonight I turn it on and the first thing I see is Seth Rollins being tackled by somebody who immediately disappears and it is never explained who he was or why he was tackling Seth Rollins pic.twitter.com/RKTPlBaI66

After the fact, many were left with the same question: why?
Why would anyone do this? An answer emerged later in the week.
The guy who attacked Seth Rollins got scammed and catfish by a fake Seth Rollins account. Welp

the guy attacked seth because he was messaging a definite fake account and believed it and the “business deal” went the wrong way pic.twitter.com/m397OboTQ6

The fake Seth seemed to have scammed this dude out of hundreds of dollars and then got the guys “bae” arrested because of a fake check. This is sad all around https://t.co/LuAnAQgLyp pic.twitter.com/on4V5QaQvL

Just incredible stuff, all the way around.
Rollins, for his part, was a good sport about everything – but understandably seemed shook by what transpired.
“It’s terrifying, brother,” he said to TMZ Sports. “It happened very quickly. I was mostly just reacting and hoping that our security would come and do their job. Which they did very quickly. And then was just trying to detach and move on. Hope that everybody is OK.”

The fan in question was ultimately hit with two criminal charges: attempted assault, plus attempted violation of arts and cultural affairs.
This has been a scary year for the WWE in general, with one crazy story after another coming out. In that sense, this is just par for the course.
