New England Patriots Starting Quarterback Odds For 2020

The New England Patriots starting quarterback odds for 2020 were released this past week. With Tom Brady gone, there is a big void to fill.

Currently, last year’s back-up, Jarrett Stidham, is the favorite to start next season at +175. After that is Cam Newton at +200, Andy Dalton at +375 and Jameis Winston at +700. The long shot options are guys like Derek Carr at +1200, Jacoby Brissett at +1200, Jimmy Garoppolo at +2500 and Cody Kessler at +3300.

Brady made the big revelation about him leaving New England on social media this past Tuesday morning. Within the day, news leaked out that he would be joining the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

As a result, the Patriots’ odds of making the Super Bowl dropped from +1200 to +2500, and the Buccaneers’ rose from +3300 to +2000.

So assuming Stidham does end up with the starting job, what will the fourth rounder be able to do with it? Well, it is worth looking at the 23-year-old’s past to predict his future.

Originally, Stidham played his college football at Baylor before transferring to Auburn. In the preseason, Stidham went 61-of-90 for 731 yards and four scores with just one pick.

Last year, offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels referred to Stidham as having a “great mindset.”

Will Stidham ultimately be the Patriots’ starter come Day 1 of the 2020 NFL season? Time will tell.
