He pulled. He yanked. He tugged. Nothing. Modern jerseys are engineered for durability, and Young picked the wrong fabric to fight with. Eventually he just threw it into the crowd and walked off stage looking annoyed.

This was supposed to be a classic Trae moment. Five years ago, he built his entire personality around trolling New York. He shushed the crowd at Madison Square Garden during the 2021 playoffs. He bowed. He waved. He made himself the perfect villain for a fan base that hates villains more than any other. It worked because his Hawks actually beat the Knicks in that series.
Since then, things have changed. Young plays for a Hawks team that is stuck in the middle of the Eastern Conference. The Knicks won a championship two seasons ago. Brunson has become one of the most beloved players in the city. And Trae is trying to recreate a moment that already peaked.
Knicks fans have moved on. They are still not fans of Young. They will still boo him at MSG. But they no longer treat him like a real threat, and Saturday proved it. The reaction to the jersey stunt was more amusement than anger.
