Suns’ Offseason Plan For Devin Booker

Suns' Offseason Plan For Devin Booker

The Phoenix Suns remain at the center of NBA trade conversations as the 2024-25 season progresses. Kevin Durant‘s name has repeatedly surfaced in trade discussions, with reports indicating he was blindsided by potential deals before the previous trade deadline.

The futures of both Durant and Bradley Beal with the franchise appear uncertain. Team owner Mat Ishbia and the front office have actively engaged in trade talks involving these stars, signaling a potential willingness to reshape the roster.

That said, one player is firmly off the table: Devin Booker.

“Never happen,” Ishbia said, when asked my Tim MacMahon if he would ever consider trading Booker. “It’s silly. So here’s what I’ll tell you: I have Devin Booker in his prime. In order to win an NBA championship, you got to have a superstar. You got to have a great player.”

Apparently Booker doesn’t want to leave either.

“Nor will Booker request a trade, regardless of how the Suns finish this season. Booker says he is fully committed to spending his entire career in Phoenix, sharing that vision with Ishbia and the Suns’ lead executives, CEO Josh Bartelstein and general manager James Jones,” MacMahon noted.

The Suns’ position in the Western Conference playoff race will likely influence their approach to any potential moves as they evaluate whether to continue building around their current core of Durant and Devin Booker.

The team’s limited draft capital creates challenges for significant trades. Phoenix must carefully consider the long-term implications of any roster changes while balancing immediate competitive goals.
