Spurs Blow Out Timberwolves in Game 6, Set Up the Western Conference Finals Nobody Expected

The San Antonio Spurs just demolished the Minnesota Timberwolves 139-109 in Game 6 of the Western Conference Semifinals, and now the NBA has the matchup it’s been building toward since Victor Wembanyama arrived in San Antonio three years ago. Spurs versus Thunder. Wembanyama versus Shai. The new generation, finally on the biggest stage.
The margin in Game 6 was not a fluke. San Antonio didn’t just win. They put on a performance that made Minnesota look overmatched in every phase of the game. The Spurs entered this series as the two seed after going 4-1 against OKC in the regular season, and they’ve done nothing to suggest they’re just happy to be here. This is a team that believes it can win the Finals.
Oklahoma City sits on the other side, currently a perfect 8-0 in the playoffs, winning games by an average of 16.6 points per game. That level of dominance suggests a team operating at a completely different level than its competition.
The Spurs have the best individual counter in the league: Wembanyama. The 7-foot-4 phenom won Defensive Player of the Year unanimously and is the most unique player the NBA has seen in decades. Against OKC’s perimeter-heavy attack, his combination of shot-blocking, rim protection, and offensive creation could be the difference in this series.
Game 1 tips off Monday at 7:30 p.m. CT in Oklahoma City. The basketball is going to be spectacular. Buckle up.
