Skip Bayless is no stranger to stirring up controversy.
Between his racial comments about Stephen Curry and the way he sometimes kisses Lil Wayne’s neck, he often finds himself trending for one reason or another.
This week, during his podcast, Bayless dropped an interesting anecdote that ended up spreading across social media like wildfire.
The incident he described occurred during his time at ESPN.

“On ‘First Take,’ I said, ‘No way.’ I’d seen enough of Meyers Leonard in college basketball, and I said on TV that I’m always a little leery of American centers going in the Lottery — American white centers going in the lottery,” Bayless said.
According to Bayless, that comment didn’t go over well with ESPN higher-ups.
“The PR woman was very upset with me,” Bayless continued, “and she asked, ‘Why did you have to bring up race?’ And I explained how, over the previous 20-or-so years, white American centers had been bad Lottery picks; I gave her the facts. She said, ‘Well, you could’ve made that point without bringing up race.’”
And that’s when Bayless decided to drop the hammer.
“I said, ‘No, in this case, race is the point,” he replied.
Bayless isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but he definitely makes for interesting sports TV.
Will ESPN or Fox Sports or someone else bring him back on at some point? Time will tell.
