Should Grayson Allen Be Suspended For Dirty Trae Young Play?

Trae Young led the Atlanta Hawks to their second win of the season on Saturday over the Memphis Grizzlies. Unfortunately, the victory did not come without a bit of drama.

Young took serious issue with a play made by Grayson Allen, where he felt like the former Duke star purposely tried to trip him.

In the clip that Young posted to Twitter, he could be seen being double-teamed by Dillon Brooks and Allen. Just as he was was attempting to escape the double-team, Allen apparently stuck his leg toward Young’s foot, tripping him in the process.

This is not the first time Young and Allen have clashed. Back during Summer League 2018, the pair got into something of a shoving match.

Dating back to his college days, Allen developed a reputation for being something of a dirty player. It got so bad at one point that Duke head coach Mike Krzyzewski had to step in.

“As a program, we needed to take further steps regarding his actions that do not meet the standards of Duke basketball,” Krzyzewski said at the time.

Allen was ultimately forced to issue a tearful apology and served a one-game suspension.

Will the league step in and punish Allen for what transpired on Saturday?

Probably not.

Throughout his first two years in the NBA, Allen has only been called for a technical foul once during a regular-season outing. That technical foul resulted in a $2,000 fine.
