Russell Westbrook’s first two games as a member of the Los Angeles Lakers have not gone terribly well.
In his first outing, a loss to the Golden State Warriors on Friday, he recorded two points, seven rebounds, four assists and six turnovers on 1-for-7 shooting in 17 minutes of action.
Westbrook’s second showing, a loss to the Phoenix Suns, saw him finish with eight points on 3-for-12 shooting, along with two rebounds, five assists and nine turnovers in 26 minutes of action.
Given that he is due more than $90 million over the next two years, clearly this isn’t what LA was hoping to see from him in the early going.
That being said, it hasn’t been all bad news for Westbrook. He did have one standout moment this week – after the Lakers fell to the Warriors on Friday.
Following the game, Westbrook attempted to give his shoes to a child. When a man reached in and tried to grab them, the Lakers guard took swift action.

As far as Westbrook’s slow start goes, he doesn’t seem too concerned. When pressed on the matter, he offered a fairly blunt 4-word response.

Lakers head coach, Frank Vogel, believes there is one major issue for all of Westbrook’s woes and that it will be easily resolved.
Is he right about that?
Time will tell.
