Pelicans Release Surprising Zion Williamson Health Update
The Pelicans released a surprising Zion Williamson health update on Tuesday.
According to team head coach Alvin Gentry, the team will take it slow and not rush Williamson back from his knee injury.
When the No. 1 overall pick from the 2019 NBA Draft went down with a torn right meniscus, a return timetable of six-to-weight weeks was promised. That was back in October.
Six-to-eight weeks has come and gone since then, and we do not appear to be any closer to seeing Williamson take the court.
Pelicans coach Alvin Gentry on rookie Zion Williamson’s knee: “He’s doing some stuff with us in practice, but we’re taking it slow. He’s working his butt off to get back on the court. We’ll put him out there when he’s ready to play. It’s not going to be any big rush.”

There was a lot of buzz and hype surrounding New Orleans coming into this season, primarily due to Williamson’s arrival.
Unfortunately, after a dominant preseason, the former Duke star was forced to have surgery before playing a single regular season game.
As a result, fans have been salivating to see him take the court in a real outing.
Currently the Pelicans are 8-23 on the year and desperately need some sort of boost. Sadly, it looks like they will have to wait a bit longer for their prized rookie to turn things around.
