OG Anunoby Says He’s ‘Over’ His Iconic NBA Finals Tip-In: Knicks Star Ready to Move On
OG Anunoby delivered one of the most iconic moments in New York Knicks history, and now he apparently wants nothing more to do with it.
Speaking to Ellie Prophet of Sky Sports during a stop in London, Anunoby was asked about his Game 4 putback in the 2026 NBA Finals against the San Antonio Spurs. His answer was pure Anunoby.
“It comes up quite a bit so I see it quite a bit,” he said. “No. I’m over it now.”
That shot may be the most important basket a Knicks player has hit in a generation. New York was down 29 at one point in that game, clawed all the way back, and needed a Hail Mary at the buzzer just to steal Game 4 at Madison Square Garden. Anunoby tipped in a miss with 1.2 seconds left to complete the 107-106 comeback. Without it, the series was tied 2-2 heading back to San Antonio, and everything changes.
Instead, the shot swung the entire Finals, the Knicks won it in six, and Anunoby had his signature moment. And apparently he is already done with it.
This is who Anunoby has always been. He is the coldest guy in the room, whether he is finishing an alley-oop or shutting down the other team’s best perimeter scorer. Reporters have tried for years to pull emotion out of him. It rarely lands. He gives you the same flat delivery whether you ask him about a 40-point playoff win or the weather.
That personality has worked. Anunoby is now a two-time NBA champion, having also won a ring with the Toronto Raptors in 2019 (though he did not play in that Finals). He signed a nine-figure deal with the Knicks after opting into the trade in 2024 and has been the ideal defensive complement to Jalen Brunson.

A defender who can guard three positions, hit corner threes, and finish above the rim without hunting his own shot is exactly what a Brunson-led team needs. The tip-in was the exclamation point on a season where he quietly became the second-most important player in New York.
