New Dark Horse NBA Team Enters Zach LaVine Sweepstakes

Zach LaVine is arguably the biggest available name in the NBA right now. The Chicago Bulls have made it clear they want him gone, but his value around the league is a question mark at the moment.

“There is no market for Zach LaVine,” Bobby Marks of ESPN said recently.

“They are trying to give him away and attach a first round pick. I’ve been told that by multiple, multiple people.”

Over the past month three teams have been closely linked to LaVine. Of that group, the Los Angeles Lakers’ best offer to Chicago is a matter of public record.

This week a new squad bubbled up as a potential dark horse suitor for LaVine if the Bulls offer up agreeable terms.

That team? The Los Angeles Clippers.

“NBA people still feel like if there’s a place Zach LaVine could end up going to – either before the season or at the deadline – don’t rule out the Clippers,” Joe Cowley of the Chicago Sun-Times wrote recently.

While LaVine’s plummeting stock is somewhat understandable given that he only played in 25 games last year, it is worth remembering that he was an All-Star in 2021 and 2022. Many thought he had franchise player potential at that point.

There is an argument to be made that LaVine has turned into a very legitimate buy-low candidate that could pay off bigtime down the line.

Who will capitalize on the situation, though? An answer one way or another is coming soon enough.
