Tyler Herro posted something of a cryptic message to social media this week amid rumors that the Miami Heat and Portland Trail Blazers were working on a trade.
Specifically, the deal in question centered around Damian Lillard.
Unfortunately, Herro is almost certain to be included in any potential swap that Lillard is a part of.
As a result, folks understandably took note of Herro’s cryptic recent message.
Last year Herro averaged 20.1 points, 5.4 rebounds and 4.2 assists in 67 outings for Miami. Unfortunately, he wound up hurting himself at the beginning of the team’s playoff run and was rendered unavailable the rest of the way.
The Heat, of course, ended up making the NBA Finals in Herro’s absence.
On Thursday, ESPN NBA insider Brian Windhorst suggested that the Blazers were ramping up the intensity with which they sought a deal for Lillard.
“I don’t know what their offers are but I think they are making an attempt to resolve this before training camp,” Windhorst said.
“They may get there or they may not. … I don’t see [Lillard] as someone who doesn’t report or doesn’t play. I would be very surprised if you didn’t see [Lillard] there and playing at his all.”
The Phoenix Suns have been mentioned in recent days as a potential player in a Heat-Blazers trade centered around Lillard, so far as that they would help facilitate it.
Let me address some of the Deandre Ayton rumors. The Suns have not been willing to move DA all summer because they think he fits well and there were no offers that would change that. If Nurkic was on the table I would be surprised if the Suns didn’t look into it because an

argument could be made that is an upgrade for Phx. This would be contingent on Dame being moved. Portland has previously shown no interest in DA but that was with Dame staying. If they do not have Dame on the roster they could very well want a young 25-year old to build around

Vogel needs a defensive minded Center to build his defense around and Nurkic does fit that mold. This would be contingent on a Lillard trade and I expect do expect that to happen very very soon.

Ok a serviceable defensive Center. He was actually good defensively before Chauncey took over. I still think he is above average. He is big but does not move as well after the leg injury. Has been a good rebounder. Can set screens and pass has some skill.

It will be interesting to see how this whole situation shakes out.
Obviously it feels like Lillard getting traded is an instability at this point.

Ditto for Herro.
Where will both be playing when the 2023-24 NBA season finally commences? Time will tell.
