Kevin Durant’s decision to request a trade from the Brooklyn Nets this past week significantly altered every NBA team’s free agency plans.
Suddenly, a multiple time champion and Finals MVP was available. A generational talent that could immediately turn your franchise into a title conder doesn’t come along every day – and front offices responded accordingly.
The Los Angeles Lakers’ best offer for Durant emerged immediately. Same with the Boston Celtics.
And although Durant has made it clear he would prefer to land with either the Phoenix Suns or Miami Heat, no team is really off limits. Except for one.
According to Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report, the Golden State Warriors are a no-go for Durant.
“The only team that NBA sources with knowledge of the situation have indicated is not a tangible option for Durant is Golden State,” he wrote.
“And the Warriors likely don’t have a package of win-now pieces that would strike Brooklyn’s interest anyhow.”
Although Durant’s generosity is what paved the way for Golden State to win a title this season, he has always had something of a mixed bag relationship with the franchise. Openly so.
In addition, Durant and Draymond Green have a complicated dynamic. It is unclear whether either party would want to go through all that again as teammates.
The next few weeks promise to be interesting. Obviously a lot of squads want Durant. There are even some notable dark horse suitors in addition to the known favorites.

That said, it’s clear that there is one locale that is simply not feasible. Come the 2022-23 NBA season Durant could be wearing any one of several uniforms. Many options are on the table.
But one that most definitely is not?
The Warriors.
