Knicks, Warriors Working On Big D’Angelo Russell Trade

The Knicks and Warriors are working on a big D’Angelo Russell trade, apparently.

Over the course of the first half of the season, Russell has been the only positive thing about Golden State’s year thus far.

After losing Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson to injury, Russell emerged as the team’s lone interesting offense playmaker.

There has consistently been an assumption that the Warriors would try to move Russell this summer because his playing style is incompatible with Curry and Thompson, but it appears we may not have to wait that long.

According to The Athletic NBA insiders Shams Charania and Jon Krawczynski, New York has joined the mix as a trade destination for Russell.

As noted by SNY, forward Bobby Portis and point guard Frank Ntilikina have been mentioned as potential trade chips.

It remains to be seen how interested Golden State would be in either one.

So far this year Russell is averaging nearly 24 points and 6 assists per outing.

The Warriors are said to want a first round draft pick, and a high one at that, in return for Russell.

Will they ultimately get one?

Time will tell.

The NBA trade deadline is set for Thursday, Feb. 6. If a deal gets done, it will get done before then.
