Knicks, Hornets Working On Massive NBA Trade

The Knicks and Hornets are working on a massive NBA trade.

Heading into this NBA season, neither New York nor Charlotte did much to improve themselves.

As such, with the trade deadline approaching, it should come as no surprise to anyone that both franchises are now scrambling to make a move.

According to The Ringer’s NBA insider Kevin O’Connor, the Knicks and Hornets are reportedly discussing a deal centered around Julius Randle.

“The Knicks and Hornets have had trade talks involving Julius Randle, per league sources,” he tweeted out on Monday.

Randle was one of many forwards that New York decided to sign this past offseason.

On his current deal, Randle is signed to a three-year, $62 million contract.

While it is unclear what precisely the Hornets hope to gain by adding Randle to their ranks, freeing up cap space would certainly be a positive for the Knicks.

According to Ian Begley of SNY, not only is New York shopping Randle to Charlotte, but the two organizations have also discussed swaps centering around guards Terry Rozier and Malik Monk.

Dennis Smith Jr. is apparently also a name that gets tossed back and forth.

“Some names that came up in Hornets and Knicks recent talks included Julius Randle, Dennis Smith Jr., Terry Rozier and Malik Monk, per SNY sources,” he tweeted out.

“Ringer first reported that Knicks and Hornets had recently discussed Julius Randle.”

So far this year Randle is averaging nearly 19 points and 10 rebounds per game.

The trade deadline is set for Thursday, February 6 at 12:00 pm PT. If a deal is going to get done, it will be done before then.
