Knicks And Pistons Working On Andre Drummond Trade?
Are the Knicks and Pistons working on an Andre Drummond trade?
New York and Detroit are two teams that are currently at the bottom of the Eastern Conference. The difference between them is that the Pistons are ready to embrace the floor and begin rebuilding, whereas New York wants to trade its way back to stardom.
Last week, news emerged that the Pistons were willing to put Drummond on the trade block. It makes sense, as his value is at an all-time high right now.
For the year, Drummond is averaging 17.8 points and 16.2 rebounds per game. Both are career highs.
Detroit is well aware that Drummond intends to opt out of the final year of his $28 million deal, so this is the organization’s only real opportunity to ensure that it does not lose him for nothing.
So who are some potential trade partners? Well, the Boston Celtics and Atlanta Hawks have both been mentioned.
However, it appears the Knicks have also asked around about Drummond’s services.
“One team, I’m told, that has made an inquiry (on Andre Drummond) are the Knicks.”

According to The Stadium insider Shams Charania, conversations have occurred between New York and Detroit regarding the All-Star center.
To date, they have not progressed anywhere real.
The Pistons want two first-round picks and some combination of young players. As of now, the Knicks have not stepped up with either.
A deal could probably be worked out if Detroit was willing to take on some salaries, but management has made it clear that it will not do that.
Hence, a stalemate.
Fortunately for all involved, the trade deadline is less than a month away. As it approaches, both buyers and sellers become irrationally more desperate.
A deal of some sort for Drummond will likely happen.
The only question at this juncture is whether the Knicks will be the ones to land him.
