The Brooklyn Nets are actively exploring options for a Kevin Durant trade. One team that has recently entered the conversation as a potential suitor is the Golden State Warriors.
Durant previously spent three with the organization between 2016 and 2019. While he didn’t experience his best statistical period during that era, he did walk away from it with two championships and two NBA Finals MVPs.
Conversations regarding a possible reunion have gotten so serious in recent days that even Stephen Curry has weighed in on it.
This week NBA insider Zach Lowe appeared on ESPN and revealed how Durant will handle things if the Nets do ultimately deal him to the Warriors.
“Of course they’re interested,” Lowe said of Golden State.
“It’s Kevin Durant. And to Brian [Windhorst]’s point about the four-year contract, teams are looking at this as, he’s 34 years old. He’s had a couple of major injuries in his career. The first two years we’re confident in getting peak Kevin Durant. We got to be able to win the title in those first two years, have a good shot at it.
“The next two we’ll see how it ages. Durant can say this is a decision that was out of my hands, they just came and got me, let’s go hoop”
There are two major reasons why Durant demanded a trade from the Nets – and neither are fixable. Him getting dealt is an inevitability, it’s just a matter of where to at this point.
The Los Angeles Lakers’ best offer for Durant is on the table. Ditto for the Boston Celtics and their best offer. The Toronto Raptors are also in the hunt, but currently refusing to include one key player.

Despite everyone’s posturing, it feels like this thing needs to get done before the start of the regular season.
Will Durant return to the Bay come 2022-23?
Time will tell.
