The Chicago Bulls will trade Zach LaVine at some point during the 2023 season. That much is clear.
After a summer full of speculation about what both sides would do, a slow start to their 2023-24 campaign has cemented Chicago as sellers rather than buyers ahead of the 2023 NBA Trade Deadline.
The three teams currently regarded as the favorites to acquire LaVine are the Los Angeles Lakers, Philadelphia 76ers and Miami Heat.
L.A.’s best offer for LaVine is a matter of public record at this point – as is his interest in them.
That said, there is one squad out there that LaVine would not want to join. That team? The New York Knicks.
According to Stefan Bondy of the New York Post, LaVine has zero interest in the Knicks.
“LaVine’s camp would prefer not to go to Leon Rose’s squad,” Bondy wrote.
“It doesn’t completely rule out a trade … Knicks would hope to avoid by acquiring a player under those circumstances, aren’t a good fit.”
It will be interesting to see how this whole situation ultimately shakes out.
Before last summer’s NBA Draft, four teams expressed interest in LaVine’s services. That list has since dwindled down to three.
And none of the three have particularly attractive assets to give up.
LaVine is a very good player. When he is healthy, he is a consistent offensive threat every night.

Defensively the 28-year-old leaves something to be desired, but it more so due to a lack of consistent effort than an absence of the ability to be a good defender.
The biggest red flag when it comes to LaVine is his injury-proneness. Yes, he is young. But does that matter when you get hurt regularly?
One way or the other, the Bulls are going to trade LaVine soon. Where to? An answer to that question will likely come in the next few months.
