Warriors Star Stephen Curry Reveals Biggest Career Regret
Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry is coming off the best run of his professional career.
Not only did the 34-year-old win his fourth NBA championship in eight years, but he also captured the one individual accomplishment that had eluded him up to that point: A Finals MVP.
With his place as one of the all-time greats secure, Curry has spent the past summer reveling in all his glory.
That has led to quite a bit of introspection.
During a recent interview with Matt Sullivan of Rolling Stone, Curry opened up at length about a variety of topics. One particularly interesting one was the subject of his biggest career regret.
“In 2014, the Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling was exposed as a vile racist in recordings published by TMZ, in the middle of the upstart Warriors’ playoff series against them,” Sullivan wrote.
“Curry privately discussed a unified player response with the Clippers star Chris Paul, twice, because Curry and his teammates wanted to walk off the court after the jump ball.
“But the Warriors ultimately deferred to their opponents’ protest of choice — the Clippers wore warmup shirts with the logo inside out, then discarded them at center court — and to the league commissioner’s lifetime ban of Sterling.”
Curry acknowledged that this incident and his reaction to it have eaten away at him for some time.
“One of my biggest regrets is not boycotting the game,” Curry told Sullivan. “That was a moment to leverage beyond anything we probably could have said.”
Curry has been fascinating to watch and listen to all summer. Between his revelation about the one non-Warriors squad he’d be open to playing on to him and his wife getting intimate in various public settings – it feels like he has been in the headlines nonstop.
If anyone has earned this victory tour, it’s definitely him.
That said, as the regular season creeps closer and closer – expect for Curry to get increasingly more focused on what lays ahead.

He and the Warriors have already repeated once, and you know they’d love nothing more than to do it again.
