Lamar Odom Reacts To Sabrina Parr’s Troubling Claims
Lamar Odom and Sabrina Parr broke off their engagement recently.
Parr revealed the news in an Instagram Stories post this week, while also alleging that Odom “has some things that he alone has to work through” and that he “desperately needs” help.
“Y’all know I’m honest and transparent so I have to be the first to let you guys know that I am no longer engaged to Lamar,” she wrote. “This has been a difficult decision for me to make but it is the best for myself and my children.”
The pair initially got engaged last November after dating for just three months.
“I love him dearly but I am no longer able to be by his side while he seeks the help he so desperately needs,” she continued. “I wish him all the best and I am asking that you pray for everyone involved.”
In response to Parr’s announcement, Odom took to Facebook to express how saddened he was by what had transpired.
Odom has been extremely open about his past substance abuse issues and how they have impacted his various relationships.

“I lived selfishly for a long time,” he said during an interview with CNN.
“I’ll be an addict for as long as I live. When you’re sober, you’re present. And when you’re present, you kind of understand the consequences and repercussions of what you do, and therefore I have no will to do any drug that isn’t marijuana. I understand the consequences and repercussions of getting high.”
At the moment, it is unclear whether the 41-year-old suffered a relapse of any sort – but that certainly seems to be the insinuation that Parr is making.

Most NBA fans have always had a soft spot for Odom due to the tragedy and loss he had encountered throughout his life. His mom died of colon cancer when he was still a child, his dad was a heroin addict, and his 6½-month-old son Jayden died from sudden infant death syndrome. Odom got the news about his son’s passing attending the funeral of his aunt. It just seemed like one thing after another.
Odom spent 13 years in the NBA, playing for the Los Angeles Clippers, Miami Heat, Los Angeles Lakers, Dallas Mavericks and briefly for the Clippers again.
After becoming a free agent in 2013, Odom was unable to secure another place for himself on an NBA roster. A few months later he inked a deal with Laboral Kutxa Baskonia of the Spanish League and the Euroleague that would keep him there for two months, with an option to extend it for the remainder of the season. Unfortunately, after just two games, a shoulder injury abruptly ended his time with the team.

Although Odom’s best scoring season came in 2000 with the Clippers, the most meaningful stretch of his playing career came with the Lakers between 2008 and 2011. During that time he played an instrumental role in helping guide the franchise to two championships, ultimately earning Sixth Man of the Year honors in 2011.
It is unclear where Odom will go from here, but the NBA community will continue to root for his wellbeing in the way it always has.
