Austin Reaves’ Icy Exchange With Lakers Coach Goes Viral
Austin Reaves’ relationship with Los Angeles Lakers head coach Darvin Ham has come under intense scrutiny in recent weeks.
Last month, reports surfaced suggesting that Ham wasn’t a particularly big fan of Reaves’. Given his decision to bench the talented 25-year-old and clearly reduce his role from what it was assumed to be in the offseason, this surprised some more than others.
That being said, it appears Reaves doesn’t like Ham much either.
Two separate exchanges between Reaves and Ham looked particularly icy this week:

The Lakers are obviously in a state of flux right now. Just in the last few days alone the team has been linked to a pair of surprising point guard options, one future Hall of Famer, and a big trade with the Portland Trail Blazers.
That being said, no matter what moves the front office opts to make, the one constant mantra the organization has stood by is that they won’t trade Reaves.
Not for Dejounte Murray. Not for Zach LaVine. Not for anyone.
Which makes sense.
The Lakers literally just gave Reaves a four-year, $53 million contract. He spent the summer playing international ball and partying with his girlfriend.
Everyone was expecting him to play a pivotal role in the Lakers’ short-term run with LeBron James.
That simply hasn’t happened, though. How much Ham is to blame for that is debatable.
If the relationship between Ham and Reaves doesn’t improve soon, though – something is going to have to give.

Already, two names have been floated as possible Ham replacements should the situation come to that.
Will Reaves and Ham be able to get on the same page for the Lakers’ sake this season? Time will tell.
