Bronny James Suffers Brutal, Season-Ending Injury

Bronny James has suffered a torn meniscus in his knee that will almost certainly abruptly end his sophomore season at Sierra Canyon High School in Los Angeles, California.

According to Tarek Fattal of the LA Daily News, the 16-year-old “has had surgery, and he is expected to make a full recovery.”

Although the injury reportedly took place three weeks ago, it has largely been kept under wraps until now.

This situation marks a disappointing, premature ending to a season that was supposed to serve as Bronny’s coming out party. Last year, as a freshman, his minutes fluctuated due to the presence of two top-10 recruits in B.J. Boston and Ziaire Williams.

Bronny’s father, Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James, has repeatedly expressed a strong desire to one day suit up in the NBA alongside his son. The belief that it will in fact occur is so strong that various pathways to making it happen have been discussed at length.

There is at least one NBA team perfectly positioned to both sign LeBron and draft Bronny, presuming the latter continues to develop into the player everyone expects him to eventually be.

Off the court, Bronny is an internet star and often finds himself in the news. Whether he’s doing it big on TikTok or trending on Twitter, the youngster is a massive star in his own right and has shown a propensity for generating headlines much in the same way his father can.

Fortunately, it sounds like Bronny’s injury, although obviously deeply unpleasant, is something he will be able to overcome. Based on that, and coupled with his growing fame, his junior year will probably end up being one of the most hyped high school junior campaigns in modern basketball history.
