Viral BYU Fan Identified After Loss To Duquesne
BYU came into the NCAA Tournament this year with moderate expectations.
Nobody was anticipating that the No. 6 seed would shock the world and win the whole dance, but a respectable performance didn’t seem outside the realm of possibility.
Unfortunately, Mark Pope and Co. didn’t get the memo. Not only did they play poorly on Thursday, but they somehow found a way to get eliminated in the first round by No. 11 ranked Duquesne.
It wasn’t all bad news for the Cougars, though. Although they embarrassed themselves on the basketball court, folks at home identified one particular BYU fan and made her a huge star on social media:

At some point, BYU will need to make some tough decisions as it pertains to Pope.
This is a man who has led his program to the NCAA Tournament in 2021 and 2024, but has yet to win an NCAA Tournament game in five years.
That’s not great – particularly when you have no league titles to fall back on either.
BYU is going to need to figure something out this summer. Jimmer Fredette isn’t walking through those doors any time soon. How will Pope and the Cougars ultimately return this program to some semblance of respectability? Time will tell.
