Derrick White Gets Brutally Honest About Jaylen Brown Relationship
Derrick White is teammates with Jaylen Brown, but that didn’t stop the latter from lashing out over the former being invited to join Team USA instead of him.
Brown has always been somewhat petulant, which is part of the reason why Jayson Tatum dislikes him, but he really took things to a whole new level this month when he was snubbed for the 2024 Olympics.
After Kawhi Leonard was kicked off Team USA under dubious circumstances, White was invited to join in his place. That really irked Brown and he didn’t hesitate to let the world know about it.
This week, White got brutally honest about his current relationship with Brown.
“Jaylen gave me a call and I was like, ‘Yeah, you didn’t need to call me. I know we’re good.’
“He gave me a call and said he just wanted to clear things up and I told him we’re all good. Never any problem or issue with us, for sure. He’s a hell of a player and I’ve never had a bad thing to say about JB.”
White is obviously being the bigger man here, but it doesn’t change the fact that Brown was extremely whiny about the whole thing.
One of the things that makes White special is that he is a consummate professional and great role player. Part of that includes making amends with people like Brown off the court when situations arise.
That said – nobody would fault White if he held a little bit of a grudge against Brown going forward.
