Bucks’ Damian Lillard’s Real Reason For Abruptly Divorcing Wife

Milwaukee Bucks star Damian Lillard abruptly filed for divorce from his wife this week.
Although pro athletes divorcing their spouses isn’t exactly unusual, Lillard and Kay’La were college sweethearts and have been together since their time at Weber State.
The fact that their split is coinciding with his recent trade to Milwaukee raised some eyebrows.
This week, the real reason for Lillard abruptly divorcing his wife surfaced in court documents.
According to records obtained by Sophie Peel of Willamette Week, the breakup is a byproduct of “irreconcilable differences” that caused “the irremediable breakdown of their marriage.”
For those keeping track at home, that means over the past month and change Lillard suffered breakups with not only the NBA team he had been with for more than a decade, but also the woman he had been with for more than a decade.
That is a lot of change in a relatively short amount of time.
It also goes some ways in explaining why Lillard, who was notoriously steadfast in his desire not to leave the Portland Trail Blazers in favor of a situation where it would be easier to win, suddenly changed his position.
That being said, a new era is upon Lillard and it will be interesting to see what he does with his new opportunity.
Bucks heiress Mallory Edens is clearly very excited about Lillard’s arrival. And she isn’t alone.
But with all that hype also comes a lot of responsibility.

Lillard wanted enough talent around him to legitimately compete for an NBA championship. Now he has it.
There are no more excuses for failure like there were in Portland.
Will Lillard be able to help lead the Bucks to another NBA championship this year? One way or the other, an answer will present itself soon enough.
